British indie rock band ARCTIC MONKEYS confirmed that the crew is working on a new studio album and that they aim to release it next year.
This news came from an interview that bassist Nick O’Malley gave for motorcycle magazine For the Ride just a day before the recording of the album started at a secret location. Asked about the possibility of publishing a new album, he said: “Our goal is to release the album next year because if we don’t, we’ve got problems.”
It’s been four years since Arctic Monkeys released the fifth studio album “AM”, which is the longest pause between studio albums in their career. In the meantime, frontman Alex Turner released an album “Everything You’ve Come to Expect” with his side project The Last Shadow Puppets, while drummer Matt Helders was busy recording the albums “Post Pop Depression” (Iggy Pop) and “Joanne” (Lady Gaga).
